Artist Megan Jentsch recently made the trip from Vancouver, B.C. to Seattle, Washington to attend the annual National Art Materials Trade Association(NAMTA) creative exposition. “Creativation,” is a global creative event that took place at the renown Seattle Convention Center Summit Tower from April 6-8, 2025.The event brings together fine art and craft materials suppliers, retailers, and creative professionals to build relationships and learn more about what is new and happening in the world of creative materials.
Invited and accompanied by Colart, a leading global creative materials company that is home to some of the most distinguished paint brands, Megan had the opportunity to paint live and create a unique artwork over the three-day event.
She chose to create a painting inspired by the Dahlia, which is the official flower of Seattle. The composition and shapes of the piece were related to the flower itself, while the colours used in the piece were from two separate lines of paint by Colart, including the liquitex bio-base heavy acrylic line which came out in 2024, and a new line of liquitex metallic basics which will be available as of June 2025.
The finished piece, The Dahlia, showcased Megan’s traditional love of colour and playful composition, while keeping in line with her new exploration and expression of abstract flowers. She enjoyed meeting new people and being inspired by the other artists' work, and is looking forward to continuing her journey with the Colart family.
